How Much Does Local Map Pack SEO Cost in 2025?
Local SEO is a necessity, not an option. So how much does it cost in 2025? How do you know if you're paying too much, or in some cases, not enough?
SEO & Digital Marketing services & jargon can get confusing if you're not familiar with the industry. This will be a shorter post to cover some common questions around the various services, and how much is reasonable amount to pay for them.
The world of digital marketing, social media, websites and local SEO can be confusing for business owners. I spend much of my time with new potential clients just on education, because I want my clients to fully understand exactly what to expect from our services. Sometimes after speaking with them, it becomes obvious they don't have a clear understanding of what happens under the umbrella of Local SEO.
I've had potential clients say and ask me some pretty funny stuff, such as:
"So, how many clicks do I get for [dollar amount]?"
"I want to be ranked #1 on Google Maps in the entire state of Wisconsin"
"I already have a website" (They had a Facebook page)
And my personal favorite:
"I already had the SEO done"

In this article we'll focus on the costs associated with those main services that we provide.
Website Building & Optimization Costs in 2025
The costs associated with having a website professionally built for your local business can really be all over the place, and so can the end result. How much should you spend on a website build? How many pages should it be? How much does the custom domain & hosting cost?
I like to advise clients to only build as much website as necessary to beat out your competitors. For instance, if you're a plumber in Elko, Nevada, the online competition isn't exactly scary. You could do really well with a site that's 10 real solid pages or even less, optimized for your services and location, and a few months of solid local SEO.
However if you're a plastic surgeon in Los Angeles, the online competition is fierce. Not only would you need amuch more thorough website build with blogs, information, services, before & afters, testimonials, etc. It could easily get into the triple digits on number of pages, and still may need full-tilt, aggressive ongoing SEO for a year just to be competitive.
The moral of the story here is, understand your needs and competition. There's no reason the plumber in Nevada should pay $30k for a 100-page website & year long SEO contract, just like the plastic surgeon shouldn't expect much of a result if he pays $1000 for a 5 page website and doesn't do any ongoing SEO efforts.
Let's say your business is somewhere in the middle, medium competition industry and medium population density. You could easily pay between $2,500-5,000 for a competently-built and well optimized website that would be competitive. It would also be common to spend between $1k and $2k a month (depending on the scope of work) for well-done ongoing local SEO for both the website and Google Business Profile.
Yes, you coulddefinitelypay less... and not get great results, or even worse, get your Google Business Profile suspended or penalized. You could also pay awhole lot more for service from a bloated agency that gets you the same results as the medium-priced option.
How much should you pay for monthly map pack & local SEO services?
We sort of eluded to this just above, but let's get more into it. Ongoing SEO services are really confusing to many business owners, and SEOs aren't helping to clarify the situation much. There are a LOT of things that fall under this umbrella, and a lot of variances in what services you'll receive from different SEO providers.
I want to make this very clear:SEO is the cumulative effect of thousands of tiny tasks over a period of time. There is not "one thing" that is the secret technique. It all works... a little tiny bit.
The reason I bring this up is, the scariest and most dangerous SEOs are the providers that get tunnel-vision on a certain tactic or strategy. Focusing on only one aspect or task to carry your project is a recipe for disaster. There are so many different types of tasks that are known to move the needle, you can't just focus on one.
Some good questions to ask an SEO provider you're thinking of hiring are:
- What are the specific tasks you'll do monthly specifically to help rank the website? (if you need that)
- What are the tasks you'll do monthly to help the Google Business Profile rank locally?
Understanding the scope of work is key here. Are you paying for website SEO or Local Map Pack SEO? Both? Do they both need ranking improvements or just one?
I'll tell you that one of my most popular strategies to use on a project is to charge the same monthly fees no matter what I'm working on. For instance, let's say you pay me $1234 a month, I'll spend that month on eitherweb building, website SEO, or focus on Local Map Pack SEO, you get to pick. The great thing about this approach is that the search engines and AI machine-learning crawlers are seeing your business entities constantly active, and they reward that over time in the search results.
To get down to the nitty-gritty of the question, the answer depends on the scope of work. Nobody in the SEO community would bat an eye if you were topay between $500-3500 per month on local SEO services, but what are you getting for the money? I can't really answer for everyone else, but for $3500 you should either be in avery competitive market (think LA plastic surgeon) or getting a whole lot of work done.
Golden Oak Local SEO would be in the $3500/mo price range for ongoing local SEO in a super competitive market, and we'd be around $1k for a small, less competitive market. That includes our proprietary Local Map Pack strategy which does sprinkle-in a little dose of off-page SEO for your website as well. It's a great strategy we've developed, because we're awesome. You're welcome.
